The World Club Championship will celebrate a decade of competition on its home course, The Club at Nine Bridges on Jeju Island in South Korea. Having solidified its position in the world as one of the premiere amateur tournaments, the World Club Championship is often compared to the Ryder Cup, Walker Cup and the President's Cup by golf dignitaries, players and experts. The Championship is disntinguished in that category as the only event in golf that features head-to-head competition by the worlds' top clubs chosen from GOLF Magazines's Top 100 Courses in the World.
The World Club Championship, which began as a way to celebrate two of golf's greatest enduring traditions: amateur golfers and the world class Clubs to which they belong, is one of the most coveted amateur events in golf.
It is truly an international event, having been hosted by: The Club at Nine Bridges, Jeju Island, South Korea; Sage Valley Golf Club, South Carolina, USA; Reignwood Pine Valley Golf Club, Beijing, China; and Diamante Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Clubs that participated in 2012 included 2011 Champions Durban Country Club of South Africa, 2011 runner ups Royal Portrush Golf Club of Northern Ireland, Seminole Golf Club of the USA, Royal Troon Golf Club of Scotland (home of multiple British Opens) and Medinah Country Club (recent host of the Ryder Cup), among others.
